DNR Offers Recreation Grants Workshop Feb. 23 State conservation officials today announced a workshop, Feb. 23, in Lansing, to assist communities in preparing recreation grant applications for the 2005 Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund and Land and Water Conservation Fund programs. The workshop will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Michigan Library and Historical Center auditorium, 717 West Allegan, Lansing. Topics will include applicant and project eligibility, distribution of funds, preparing applications and attachments, project selection and grantee obligations. A review of the 2005 recreation grant application for both the MNRTF and LWCF will be provided, and DNR staff will be available to answer questions during the session. The workshop is free and preregistration is not required. The application deadline for both programs is April 1, 2005. Additional applications for MNRTF acquisitions only will be accepted on Aug. 1. Grant application materials are available on the DNR Web site at www.michigan.gov/dnr by following the links through "Inside the DNR" and "Grants Administration" or by contacting the DNR's Grants Section at 517-241-2480. Application materials also will be available at the workshop.
