MOHICAN STATE PARK LODGE TO UNDERGO $672,000 RENOVATION
Lodge will close March 1- April 15 while work is completed

COLUMBUS, OH -- The resort lodge at Mohican State Park in Ashland
County will close from March 1 to April 15 while workers complete $672,000
in remodeling, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).
The park's cottages and campground will remain open throughout the project.
The lodge, including the dining room, is scheduled to reopen in
mid-April with new balconies on all rooms, five new wheelchair-accessible
rooms and other structural upgrades.
In the meantime, persons seeking a unique dining experience may
visit the nearby Malabar Inn near Malabar Farm State Park in Richland
County. The historic Malabar Inn serves lunch and dinner on weekends during
March and early April and at other times during the year.
The Kel-Par Company of Newark will serve as general contractor on
the Mohican lodge remodeling project. Knox Electrical Construction will
handle wiring; Universal Enterprises of Mansfield will act as mechanical
contractor. Braun & Steidl of Akron are the project design consultants.
The lodge at Mohican State Park opened in 1974 and was constructed
at a cost of $5.1 million. Each of its 96 rooms features a balcony with an
overview of the surround park and state forest. The lodge is equipped with
private meeting and banquet rooms that will accommodate groups of 425
persons. Additional amenities include Olympic-sized indoor and outdoor
pools, sauna, gift shop and lounge.
Additional Ohio State Parks with resort lodges include Deer Creek
State Park in Pickaway County, Hueston Woods State Park in Preble County,
Shawnee State Park in Scioto County, Salt Fork State Park in Guernsey
County, Punderson State Park in Geauga County, Maumee State Park in Lucas
County and Burr Oak State Park in Morgan County.
A new resort lodge at Geneva State Park in Ashtabula County will open in
May.
Reservations may be made through 1-800-AT-A-PARK for all lodges
except those at Deer Creek and Geneva. Reservations for Deer Creek can be
made through 1-877-678-DEER; Geneva reservations are available by calling
