Spring wild turkey application period extended

Michigan Department of Natural Resource officials today announced the 2004 spring wild turkey application period is extended through Feb. 10, due to technical difficulties with E-License internet system.

During the final two days of the application period, more than 4,300 individuals purchased or applied for a spring turkey license through the E-License system. However, the technical difficulties may have prevented some hunters from accessing the E-License system.

To ensure an opportunity for these hunters to submit an application for the drawing or to purchase a Hunt 234 license, the Department has extended the deadline through midnight, Feb. 10, for inclusion in the annual lottery drawing. The extension period begins February 4th and is for new applications and hunt area 234 license purchases only. No current applications will be amended, and all hunters who successfully accessed the system during the initial application period can be assured their information was received.

Drawing results will be posted March 1 at www.michigan.gov/dnr. All applicants, except those who applied online, will be mailed a postcard by March 5. Hunters are reminded that it is unlawful to apply more than once or to purchase more than one spring turkey hunting license.

Hunters with questions about wildlife issues are encouraged to call the DNR Wildlife Division at 517-373-1263. Those with questions about licensing issues should call the Retail Sales System’s customer service division at 517-373-1204.
