NRC to discuss wildlife regulations in Marquette

The Michigan Natural Resources Commission today announced it will host its annual Upper Peninsula Wildlife Regulations meeting April 7 in Marquette.

The meeting, scheduled for 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Marquette Ramada Inn on Washington Street, is an opportunity for the public to share thoughts and concerns about deer management and other wildlife issues with members of the NRC and key Department of Natural Resources staff, to assist in future policy-making decisions.

“The NRC hosts meetings in various regions of the state each year to encourage local participation,” said NRC Chairman Keith Charters. “This annual meeting in Marquette is an opportunity for sportspeople and concerned residents to get answers to their wildlife questions and share their thoughts with the NRC and the DNR.”

All attendees are allowed three minutes for their public comments. Written comment also is welcome and can be submitted at the meeting or sent to Teresa Gloden, Assistant to the NRC, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, P.O. Box 30028, Lansing, Michigan, 49829. Comments also can be e-mailed to glodent@michigan.gov.

For more information, contact Ann Wilson or Penny Bacon, DNR, Marquette, at 906-228-6561.
