Sleepy Hollow State Park announces ‘Friends’ brunch

Sleepy Hollow State Park officials today announced a Feb. 8 brunch to help revitalize the Friends of Sleepy Hollow group.

The goal of the Friends group is to enhance, promote, and preserve the natural resources of Sleepy Hollow State Park for the enjoyment of present and future generations. This volunteer group participates in a variety of service projects including spring and fall park cleanup, planting trees and flowerbeds, updating and maintaining the park’s trail system, and hosting the annual Ichabod Crane Days at the park in October. The group also promotes such programs as “Take a Friend Fishing, Adventure Ranger, and various fund raising events.

The Friend’s brunch will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the park headquarters. Everyone interested in becoming a member or finding out more about this program is welcome. Officers will be elected and project ideas for 2003 discussed. Membership in the Friends group is $5 for individuals, $10 for families. Membership is not required to attend this event.
