Public invited to Crystal Lake meeting Michigan Department of Natural Resources officials today announced an Oct. 22 public informational meeting, from 6-8 p.m., to present the final conceptual plans for a new boat access site on the 9,711-acre Crystal Lake in Benzie County. The public is invited to attend and express thoughts and concerns relative to the proposed boat access site. The meeting will involve a presentation by the project design consultants with a question and answer period to follow. DNR Parks and Recreation Bureau staff will be on hand, as well as local community leaders. "The Parks and Recreation Bureau is very interested in gathering public input and comments regarding the development of this proposed boat access site," said Vicki Anthes, DNR Parks and Recreation Bureau planning chief. "It is located in a very beautiful part of the state, and our plans are to give boaters access without destroying the character and aesthetics of the area." The meeting will be held at the Benzie County Central High School Auditorium, 9300 Homestead Road, Benzonia, MI 49616, phone: 231-882-4497.
