SPRING PROGRAMS AT MAYBURY STATE PARK

LANSING--The Department of Natural Resources invites you to
take part in several programs offered at Maybury State Park
and Maybury Farm this spring. All programs are free, but a
state park motor vehicle permit is required for entry to the
park.
* Annual Sheep Shearing Days: Saturday, May 11 and Sunday,
May 12, 1 - 4 p.m. Mark your calendar to watch the sheep
lose their wooly coats. See how wool is processed into yarn
during carding and spinning demos. Continuous demonstrations
are offered each day in the Farm Visitor Center.

* Spring Photography Workshop: Saturday, May 18, 6:30 p.m.
Meet in the Farm Classroom Building to explore different
tips and techniques to improve your picture taking. The
short lecture will be followed by an outdoor session to give
us time to practice our skills.

* Annual Dairy Day: Saturday, June 15, 2 p.m. Meet in the
Visitor Center Classroom to learn about dairy animals and
how milk is processed from farm to table. Try your hand at
churning butter and making ice cream.

It is always recommended to call the park in advance to
confirm dates and times of an event. For all events, an
adult must accompany children.
Maybury State Park is located on Eight Mile Road, one mile
west of Beck Road, in Northville Township. The park is open
daily from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. For more information about
the park, call 248-349-3858. For additional program
information, call 248-349-3858
