EDDY DISCOVERY CENTER ANNOUNCES APRIL & MAY PROGRAMS

LANSING - The Michigan Department of Natural Resources
invites you to take part in the spring programs scheduled at
the Waterloo Recreation Area's Eddy Discovery Center. All
three of the following programs are approximately 11/2 hours
in length.
* Frogs and Toads: Saturday, April 20, 2 p.m. View Michigan
frog and toad species we may encounter in Michigan and learn
some of the distinctive characteristics of each through a
slide presentation, then take a short walk to look for frogs
that have already begun singing.

* Spring Wildflowers: Saturday, May 11, 2 p.m. This is a
wildflower walk where an abundance of beautiful blooms
should be evident. Guides will observe, identify and discuss
some natural history and folklore about the wildflowers
encountered along the trail.

* Birding For Beginners Saturday, May 25, 9 a.m. Bird
watching begins at the visitor center and branches out from
there in search of migratory species that may be heard or
seen, as well as year-round residents. Bring binoculars if
you have them. Limited to 25 people.

There is no fee for these programs, although advance
registration is required. To make reservations, call the
Discovery Center at 734-475-3170. A State Park motor vehicle
permit is required for entry into the park ($4 for a one-day
permit or $20 for the annual permit, which is valid at any
state park).

The Discovery Center is located on Bush Road between Pierce
and McClure roads in Chelsea. Take I-94 to exit 157 (Pierce
Road) and go north to Bush Road. Take Bush Road west to the
park entrance.
